Woodberry wetlands | Olivia + Chris

Woodberry Wetlands Wedding Photographer

Olivia and Chris are such a cool couple, and I was so excited to capture their day in Stoke Newington. They chose to get married at The Old Church Stoke Newington, right on the edge of Clissold Park, with their reception just a short walk away at The Woodberry Wetlands wedding venue, held at the beautiful Coal House.

Both Olivia and Chris are big into adventure and sport—regular wall climbers, wild swimmers, and keen cyclists. Chris, in particular, has a deep love for cycling, and it even became a mini-theme on the wedding day. In a wonderfully bonkers idea, they planned to rent a cargo bike so Chris could cycle his newlywed wife from the churchyard to their reception at Woodberry Wetlands’ Coal House wedding venue. When we had our pre-wedding catch-up, they were still debating whether to go through with it, but come the big day, there it was—the cargo bike, ready and waiting.

The morning started with me capturing a few moments at The Old Church in Stoke Newington, where Chris and his best man arrived to set up, making sure everything was in place—including the cargo bike, safely stowed inside for later. A short walk away, Olivia was getting ready on the other side of Clissold Park. The whole morning flew by in a blur of excitement, but the atmosphere was incredibly relaxed—no dramas, just pure joy, with a little bit of nervous anticipation creeping in just before the ceremony.

When Olivia arrived at the church, you could hear a collective gasp from inside as she walked down the aisle, her mum by her side. The ceremony itself was a beautiful 30 minutes of heartfelt vows, hymns, and readings. The soft, natural light filtering through the church created a raw, authentic feel to the photos—exactly the kind of atmosphere I love to capture.

Before heading off on their cargo bike adventure, Olivia and Chris made a quick stop at Clissold Park for a round of tinnies and Champagne, soaking up the moment with their guests. I absolutely love weddings like this—laid-back, out in the open, free of rigid traditions, just pure celebration. When the time came for them to cycle off, I realized I couldn’t miss the opportunity to capture these moments in motion. The idea of the couple zooming through London was too good, so I grabbed a Lime bike, tapped my Apple Pay, and took off—one hand gripping my camera, the other steering for dear life.

It was absolutely worth the risk. Cycling through the streets with them, seeing the reactions of passersby, and capturing the joy on their faces made for some incredible shots.

The rest of the evening was spent at The Coal House at Woodberry Wetlands, with a drinks reception set against the stunning backdrop of the West Reservoir. As the sun lowered, the golden light made for a dream setting—one of those perfect moments where everything comes together just right. A truly special day for a truly special couple. If you're planning a Woodberry Wetlands wedding or a Coal House wedding, this venue is an absolute dream for a relaxed, outdoor celebration.
