Charterhouse School Wedding: A Stunning Celebration in a Historic Chapel

Mary and Jean’s Charterhouse School wedding was an intimate and unforgettable wedding, set against the backdrop of the school's beautiful and historic chapel. The ceremony took place in this stunning venue, where the light filtering through the stained glass and the architectural beauty of the chapel created an incredible atmosphere for their Charterhouse School weddings photos.

I began the day capturing the relaxed preparations of the couple. Mary was getting ready at her parents' house in Guildford, while Jean prepped for the big day at The Bush Hotel in Farnham. Both were keen to avoid stiff, posed shots, preferring to capture candid moments that truly reflected their personalities. It was my first time here as a Charterhouse School wedding photographer, it’s always a privilege to work with couples who are focused on enjoying their day rather than adhering to traditional expectations.

The ceremony itself was emotional and beautiful. With friends singing in the choir and sharing personal poems, it was a truly heartfelt moment. The soft light in the chapel as Mary walked down the aisle gave us some stunning wedding photos—a perfect blend of atmosphere and emotion. Mary and Jean’s focus on making the day their own, without rushing from one activity to the next, allowed them to be present in the moment and fully embrace the experience.

After the ceremony, the couple made their way to Mary’s parents' house for a reception filled with delicious canapés, cocktails, garden games, and even drawing. The relaxed atmosphere provided plenty of opportunities for me to capture the natural interactions between the couple and their guests. As a documentary-style photographer, I love finding moments in between the big events—those candid, unscripted moments that tell the real story of the day.

The evening continued in a beautifully decorated marquee with heartfelt speeches, delicious food, and ceilidh dancing under twinkling fairy lights. A vegetarian burger truck added a fun, unexpected touch to the celebration.
