Relaxed, unposed,

I’m a London-based documentary wedding photographer, specialising in relaxed and candid photography. My focus is on capturing the genuine connections, the joy, and the personalities that make your wedding truly yours β€” not just the obvious moments."

Candid, documentary style wedding photographer

Weddings are so much more than the walking away in the sunset photos. I offer an approach that has very little disturbance to your day, maximising your enjoyment, and offering a seamless, hands-off approach.

All my couples can relax and enjoy their wedding knowing that all the key moments are being creatively captured in the background.

I believe beautiful wedding photography shouldn't involve staging moments or consuming large portions of your day to set up scenes or walk around a field while your guests enjoy the canapΓ©s you booked.

Every wedding is unique, and I bring my creativity and passion to each and every one. There's no checklist of shots or rigid rules to follow; I approach each wedding day with a completely personalised touch and get excited about every wedding, regardless of size!

London Wedding Photographer

Hi, I’m Emis, a London wedding photographer specialising in documentary-style photography. I capture weddings as they naturally unfold, focusing on real moments, emotions, and the little details that make each day unique. My approach is relaxed and unobtrusive β€” no awkward posing, just authentic storytelling through playful composition, timing, and light. If you’re looking for a documentary wedding photographer in London who truly captures the spirit of your day, you’re in the right place.

WHAT IS DOCUMENTARY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY?

Documentary wedding photography is about capturing your day without staging or posing, reading it like a story as it naturally unfolds. Instead of interrupting the flow, I work quietly in the background, using composition and timing to create playful, layered images that reflect the true spirit of your wedding. It’s about noticing the unscripted moments β€” the laughter, the chaos, the quiet pauses β€” and turning them into photographs that feel alive and full of meaning.

Each image should hold more than just a record of how things looked. A strong documentary photograph tells a story within a single frame β€” it carries emotion, personality, and atmosphere. Through framing, perspective, and an awareness of light, I aim to give every picture a sense of depth and context. Sometimes it’s the smallest detail β€” a gesture, a look, a fleeting expression β€” that reveals the heart of the moment.

Timing and awareness are at the heart of documentary photography. Sometimes the most powerful images aren’t of the big moment itself, but the build-up, the anticipation, or the way people react spontaneously. These in-between moments glue the story together, creating context and emotion that make the day feel alive in photographs. My goal is to blend all of this β€” the planned and the unexpected β€” into a collection of images that not only show what happened but convey how it felt. The result is a visual story full of personality, energy, and the little moments that make your wedding unforgettable.

β€œI have done nothing in the last 24 hours but look at our wedding photographs on a loop... they are everything! They couldn't be more wonderful and everyone has been crying again re-living the special day.
We started going through and trying to pick out our faves and quickly realised it is all of them... They all are just the story of the day. Everyone is either crying or laughing their head off which is how we remember it all. It was the best day of my life and now we will always be able to look back on all that joy..”
