Documenting the moments of Carrie and Clem's wedding at the Bethnal Green Town Hall Hotel was an emotional experience, not just for the couple and friends, but I could to feel the intense emotion int he room. Situated in East London, this wedding venue is notable for its unique charm and versatile atmosphere, especially in the council chamber where ceremonies take place.
The appeal of this venue lies in its spacious layout, offering photographers like us the flexibility to compose shots that hep capture every significant moment form different viewpoints. The council chamber ceremonies, in particular, provide an interesting setting for experimentation with different perspectives, resulting in a diverse range of photographs.
Collaborating with the couple was enjoyable, and the genuine emotions between Carrie and Clem translated well into the photographs. This is soley becasue I do not get inolved with the day, or intervene moments, instead I allow them to unfold. I believe a natural moment will alwasy win over staged moments.
I started the day moments before the ceremony. Documenting the greetings and excitement as guests arrived and interacted with the groom offered a unique opportunity to capture the anticipation and genuine emotions.
The couple decided not capture the morning preparations, so I shifted my focus to the ceremony itself, which unfolded in the beautiful setting of the town hall. The smiles exchanged between the couple and their guests created a picturesque scene, I made sure to concentrate on the bride and groom during the initial stages of the ceremony. These moments are particularly precious as they often mark the first time the couple sees each other on their wedding day. It's in these instances that genuine reactions and subtle exchanges between the pair can be translated into striking candid photographs.
